Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
