Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

March 23rd, 2025 at 21:25

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
