Poker has become globally celebrated as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several variations on the earliest poker game have been created, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with twenty-one than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or other kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the dealer announcing "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the casino and of course every one of the different gamblers acquire 5 cards. After you have looked at your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to in turn make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s amount is akin to your original bet, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your ante goes immediately to the house. After the bet is the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, with an amount equal to the initial wager. If the bank does have ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The dealer pays out chips even with your wager and controlled expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
