Online poker has become globally celebrated recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years numerous types on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to vingt-et-un than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house instead of each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the croupier broadcasting "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other gamblers are given 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the dealer’s 1st card, you need to either make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s value is akin to your original wager, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your bet goes directly to the dealer. After the wager is the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, plus a sum equal to the original wager. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The dealer pays out cash even with your initial bet and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
