Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen betting on net poker on Full Tilt.
