No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
