Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

September 12th, 2015 at 2:21

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
