Focus Attention on Annie Duke

September 4th, 2010 at 1:21

Annie Duke mightn’t have won her first WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a big win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her four children. She was born in New Hampshire and was raised into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught Annie the correct way to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is not a small-potatoes girl and has won her cut of difficult games, including eliminating Howard a few times on several occasions.

Earning over $3 million in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a advisor to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to build up his techniques and become a big player at the poker table.

You may notice Annie at the Bellagio, you’ll catch her on the television and you might just even play with her in an internet poker game, but do not expect an easy win. Unless you’re a rising star, you won’t beat her. although, it is likely to be cool to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
